Sword and Fern's Mt. Saint Helen's Necklace and Same Dream Necklace
Um, so gee, we’re late this week. I hope that doesn’t mean you missed the 2nd installment of the new queer night Cafeteria at my local Vendetta last night. I sure didn’t. While I didn’t see any lunch trays (get on it boys! Atmosphere!) I saw plenty of crunk gays getting down on that tiny dancefloor. The music was a great mix of oldies, 90s, and today…but mixed way more elegantly than an adult contemporary radio station.
But hey neighbors…can we please keep the patio open just one more hour? As soon as everyone arrives just before 11 the doors shut and it becomes a familiar oven. Someone really needs to develop the technology to harness the energy greated from the body heat of club kids. It’ll be cleaner than coal. I promise.

Let's have a gay ol' time at the Washougal River!
Tonight
Do the Dark – Yes, do it. Guest DJ Nolita (Fruitcake) is in town from Oakland and it’s gonna be sick. Oh yeah, and weinie roasting on the back deck. What more could a summer queer ask for? If you don’t already know this party you should.
Friday
Need and Bangs reunion benefit – I know a lot of you will be here earlier in the night, but you can still dance it up after right?
No Shade – Yes, just keep going. No drama-rama party with a great mix of fabulous peeps. And I really love that they include some mixes to get you in the spirit. I’d totally play it at the pre-funk. Oh yeah, and in case you didn’t have enough Nolita already, she’ll be here too. And you can never get enough.

Go go boys at the Red Cap Block Party. Photo by Mike Burt
Mike was shooting with such fancy equipment that it took awhile for him to really get all the galleries up, but they finally are! That also means that if you spot yourself in a shot we can most likely make a really nice print for you. If you’re interested just email me at alley@qpdx.com.

It's Kaj-Anne Peppar vs Blow Pony...who's gonna win?
I know yer tired…so am I…but we persevere…cuz it’s Saturday night y’all
The Dyke(ish?) March – Despite all the confusion and disorganization the Dyke March will trudge on in 2010. But be careful because it’s an hour earlier this year! Gathering at 5pm with a 6pm step off this parade of “dykes” is really more about celebrating Portland’s appreciation for and power of otherly gendered peoples, women, dykes, transpeople and other non-conformers. So what if it’s run into your ex-girlfriend march. You live in Portland. Get over it.
SMYRC’s Gayest Day of the Year Bike Ride – We get so wrapped up in our alcohol-fueled debauchery that we sometimes forget that wholesome activities that include youngsters can be just as amazing and Prideful. Not that I’m always so innocent when astride my trust lavender Bridgestone roadie Lola, but at least I can pretend.
Pride Pet parade – I’ve never been a good lesbian, as I have never owned by own dog or cat, (I mean, I’ve walked a dog so that cute girls will talk to me) but a queer lubba puppy and a cuddly kitteh so you know the folks will be out. Even if my favorite happen to be the Prideful goats, one of whom won the Just Out Pet’s category that I helped judge (oops! Is the cat out of the bag?)

Westboro Baptist Church gay protest
The Q Center and the Blow Pony Crew are organizing a strategy meeting in order to come up with some plans for civil obedience action against the Westboro Baptist Church. The strategy meeting will be held at the Q Center from 7 to 9 pm on the 26th. (you may want to consider coming early to get a seat) . The Q […]
Meghan Mayhem at last month's Cuda Cabaret
Besides the all weekend long Circus Artemis, which you absolutely should not miss, there’s plenty of other queer happenings worth dancing it out to this weekend. These are what I’m considering…
Tonight
The Gong Show – Bad Scene Productions brings you a 70s game show redux for the 2nd time to benefit outside in. Judged by The Mercury’s Wm. Steven Humphrey & Marjorie Skinner and William Batty & Sadie LaGuerre of Wanderlust Circus there’s bound to be nothing appropriate of the former Sissyboy members performing as KD Rang and Mami Tsunami hosted show.
But I’m especially excited to see openers Hammercise with members of the Sprockettes bringing you a whole new way to exercise for summer getting in shape.
Check out a video recap below for a taste:

No Gay Bashing allowed, sorry
After a lot of text messages and trying to find information about a string of neo-nazi attacks that was rumoured to have happened this weekend, things seem to be calming down – after speaking with folks at Rotture and asking around, I got no confirmation on actual details. It seems like no other PDX news sources have confirmation, either.
So at the […]
Rev your engines. The weekend begins tonight with the Do the Dark, my favorite new Thursday night hot spot with just the right size dance floor and cheap tequila drinks to feed my addition. Ill Camino, Trans Fat and a slightly wounded organizer Freddie Fagula will not disappoint no matter what.
Friday, you must emerge from the darkness into a stark No Shade policy. Brought to you by DJ […]
Did collapsing homos cause the PDXboom?
Was the loud boom heard around 8 PM last night caused by Portland area gays and lesbians simultaneously collapsing after a long weekend of partying? Or is it because we’re such sinners or something? (There was a lot of sinning going on at BP. Apparently it was fun to watch, somehow I missed it. I was too busy dancing)
I’m not sure, but if you heard the boom, (I did down at Reed College, it was loud, and stuff rattled), but we have a handy-dandy PDX Boom map link where you can add your boomspot. (look, i’m creating new lingo)
Anyway, the weekend…

Yes, the springing spring has brought us yet another queertastic dance extravaganza…because we all.just.can’t.get.enough… Yes, it’s Blow Pony‘s 3rd birthday this Saturday at Rotture (315 SE 3rd) and I will be in full regalia with my crew, but I am starting to get a bit wary of the night that seems to keep expanding in both good and less good ways. Are we going to burst at the seams? Has BP become just another freakshow for the masses? This weekend is a test my friends. And it may be time for some of us to retreat into our smaller queer dominated domains for awhile. We shall see.
Luckily we have ample opportunity. Listening to the description of tomorrow’s new Blue Parrot (3416 N Lombard) hosted !!!DIRT BAG!!! glamourtronic queer dance pop party!!! I am certainly tempted to add another evening to my dance party schedule, full as it may be.
