Trans Revolution dance party returns to Crush tomorrow
Just because you are trying to stick to your New Year’s resolution of not drinking, or at least drinking less, doesn’t mean your social calendar should suffer. We may be experiencing the post-holiday doldrums of grey and rainy January but there is still plenty of queer excitement left in the humid air.
This weekend sees at least 3 big events, the 3rd anniversary of the popular smut fest Dirty Queer, the return of the genderiffic Trans Revolution dance party and the continuation of the popular Homomentum performance cabaret.

Just a quick video snippet from one of the many queer New Years parties last night. The last Fruitcake ever was a roaring success and Beth Ditto was on hand to help the homos ring in the new year. Cheers to organizer DJ Nolita for a continuously fabulous soiree and for use of this video.
Fruitcake New Years Countdown w/ Beth Ditto! from Deejay Nolita on […]
Stop stealing our stuff please
We need your help! Over $3000 worth of gear was stolen from our friend’s car in front of Blow Pony /Rotture. Where you there? Did you see ANYTHING?
QPDX.com family member and avid snowboarder Diana Edwards got a nasty shock after leaving BlowPony @ Rotture/Branx last night.
QPDX’er Alley had picked up Diana from the airport after a christmas trip to Utah and […]
Kelly Moe will perform live at Fruitcake's NYE party
The craziness of New Year’s Eve parties, be they gay or less gay, is well established and usually find me in the safe confines of a cozy NE Portland bungalow. You would think that with this year’s economy that would be especially true. But alas, this year I will be swinging down to the inner SE industrial district to partake of some holiday Fruitcake with DJs Nolita, Gottesfinger, Freddie Fagula, Chelsea Starr (Hotpants/SF) and Yer Mom (Blo Pony).
My favorite NE party that recently succumbed to the Rumpapankers implosion, will see its last foray and one of organizer Nolita’s last sets at Branx (320 SE 2nd Ave). Mix in live performances by The Lovers, Portland’s most ethereal best-new-thing, Kelly Moe, the sensual chanteuse I used to call my video store boyfriend, and Judy!, art-rock extraordinaire, and you have a holiday happening I’ll venture out for.

Hi everyone,
Merry Christmas, happy Kwanzaa and politically correct generic holiday greetings from sunny San Francisco! All of QPDX.com hopes you get lots of presents from Santa!
Here, a present form us. Have this ancient video that was a part of my childhood christmas.
Oh, and it’s blow pony tomorrow! See you there! 21+, 9 – late, $3 before 11pm, $5 after. Special holidaze deco, and the whole […]
Jimmy Choos, made famous by 'Sex and the City' typically cost between $175 and $1,095 at high-end retailers were sold for $50 to $200 at H&M.
In news that is the gayest not technically gay gossip, Euro hipster fashionista-for-less giant H&M is finally coming to Portland. It’s slated for Pioneer Place coming this summer.
Our broke but fashionable local audience has been foaming at the mouth for our own store for years now as we’ve watched it break into random markets like suburban western Massachusetts, or open 12 stores in 4 square feet of expensive NYC space.

Co-owners Jeneen Doumitt and Evy Cowan
Even in a bad economy people usually continue to drink and to have sex. Just as bars as full as they ever were, so too can a burgeoning sex toy shop thrive in the downturn.
At least that is the hope of Evy Cowan and Jeneen Doumitt, two long time friends, who just opened, She Bop, an adult boutique specializing in non-toxic body safe toys, books, DVDs and gifts for women. The bright and airy store, open 7 days a week from 11 to 7, set just off Mississippi Ave (909 N Beech) is a friendly and close in alternative to the fantastic, but out of the way It’s My Pleasure.

 Nikita
Do Jump!‘s lesbo-riffic holiday show has always been a queer holiday staple. But this year there is a new kid in town, who promises a slightly edgier fare.
Put on by Collective of Geniuses, Homo for the Holidays, a new annual show for all those who feel the isolation of the comsumeristic holiday “season” this Saturday from 6-10pm at Switchyard Studios (109 SE Salmon St).
The evening will include brand a new clown performance by the CoG Acrobatics; Aerial by Jack StockLynn, Nikita, and Charity McKee; burlesque by Sahara Dunes, as well as performances by Val the Variety Act and many more.

Under the Radar's Erin Rook (left) and Em Connor (right)
In a world where homophobia is not as uncommon as it may be in other dance cultures, hip hop can be an intimidating style to get into. But Portland queers are all about taking over every kind of dance, from country line to disco queendom. We just like to bust a move. That’s why Under the Radar‘s Em Connor and (qPDX contributor) Erin Rook decided to host Swagger: A Queer Dance Movement.

Airport security will never be the same
The holiday season brought us a special Homomentum performance featuring the cold and snappy celebration of all things queer and seasonal. And you can catch just a glimpse of the white winter wonder with our Snowpocalypse photo gallery.
Performances included a very special TSA burlesque from KT Kusmal and Venus Envy, a final performance from drag queen provocateur Champagne, and a rendition of the Tchaikovsky’s Sugar Plum Fairy dance from Catitude.
