The projected ‘American Idol’ favorite, and projected homo, is robbed of his title

Buzz across TV land predicted that the outlandish, and quite probably gay, Adam Lambert would take home the top prize at this year’s American Idol. Alas, the favorite was upset by the cute, but not nearly as deserving, Kris Allen.

Even Mr. Allen was slightly stunned by the news: after the host Ryan Seacrest had told him he had won, he said, “Adam deserves this.” (By contrast, Simon Cowell appeared to lodge a silent protest from his seat, declining to stand and applaud Mr. Allen’s victory with his fellow judges.)

Athens Boys Choir in review

athensboyschoir

ABC

Plagued by technical difficulties, Katastrophe inexplicably MIA, and no EZ Heeb video screening, the Athens Boys Choir show was a bit of a letdown. But, although Red Bull may not have been in the best interest of trans homo-hop star Katz, a good time was had by all nevertheless.

The tiny venue of Dunes is dark an intimate and the gaggle of baby dykes and sweaty boys made for a great mix.

Athens Boys Choir and Katastrophe to tear up Dunes

Athens Boys Choir's Katz

Athens Boys Choir's Katz

Although it is unlikely that we will ever get that oh-so-catchy pop sensation Fagette out of our heads Athens Boys Choir is back with a brand new single and video for “EZ Heeb.” He’ll bring it live to the stage, along with fellow trans rapper Katastrophe this Thursday at Dunes (1905 NE MLK, 9pm $5).

Kick / Ball / Change Photo Gallery

While we’re all still to overwhelmed (in a fantastic, magical,”let’s put on your red shoes and dance the blues” kinda way by the event that was Kick/Ball/Change, I neverless found a few spare hours to upload the photos we took.

We have the world’s shittiest camera because we’re so fly-by-night (have one you wanna donate?) so I apologize for some quality issues. Also, we had trbl getting good shots […]

Gay Square Dance @ The Village Ballroom!

To be honest, my first reaction when my friend asked me to come to gay square dancing with them was amused disbelief. Square dancing? Isn’t that a country thing? With queermos? In Portland?

Square Dancing @ The Village Ballroom

Square Dancing @ The Village Ballroom

I felt way to British (read: stiff-upper-lip) to be seen howdying around to country music, but, if ever learned anything, getting over myself sometimes is a good thing. Rejecting everything outright isn’t very sexy. It’s also not the foundation for diverse journalistic coverage of this awesome town! So although I skipped the cowboy boots, I did go to the square dancing, and although I didn’t get to dance (I can be shy, and my shoulder is out of order) I did make a promise to try it next time!

A quiet weekend, G Spot at Crush, E Room

Last weekend was intense. I went to FAME on wednesday, the RedCap for RuPaul’s drag race on Thursday, Crave and Portland is Burning on Friday, and Gaycation @ Holocene on Saturday.

G-SPOT @ Crush Bar on Thursdays

G-SPOT @ Crush Bar on Thursdays

No wonder my eyes (lots of cute people around), legs (dancing!!), arms (a boy’s gotta drink, no), and wallet are feeling pretty tired. And I know some of you (Hi Max! Hi Alley!) did part of that circuit with me, so you’re probably feeling the same way.So the good news is that this weekend seems to be a slow one, with only Fruitcake and a benefit for Rock Camp on our radar so far. That gives us all plenty of time to withdraw and regroup…

Crowd at the two year anniversary of DQ

Dirty Queer (DQ for short), the country’s only X-Rated Queer Open Mic has been running for around two years now-and i’d never been! Bad Perry. I know. Come ‘ere darlin’, tell me off! Ok, ok. Nevermind!

But finally, finally…I managed to go last Friday and not only was I present for the readings and performances, I also got to interview host Sossity Chiricuzio and I read some of my own writing!
