Sword and Fern's Mt. Saint Helen's Necklace and Same Dream Necklace
Um, so gee, we’re late this week. I hope that doesn’t mean you missed the 2nd installment of the new queer night Cafeteria at my local Vendetta last night. I sure didn’t. While I didn’t see any lunch trays (get on it boys! Atmosphere!) I saw plenty of crunk gays getting down on that tiny dancefloor. The music was a great mix of oldies, 90s, and today…but mixed way more elegantly than an adult contemporary radio station.
But hey neighbors…can we please keep the patio open just one more hour? As soon as everyone arrives just before 11 the doors shut and it becomes a familiar oven. Someone really needs to develop the technology to harness the energy greated from the body heat of club kids. It’ll be cleaner than coal. I promise.

Mikey takes part in the "gun show" at Dingos
The Real L Word just presented its finale with a Portland appearance by co-star Mikey Koffman the recent weekend of the 15th and I’m all kinds of ambivalent and intrigued.
Firstly, many Portlanders may not have tuned into the show at all, seeing as Los Angeles seems so different from us, even if we do share a sexuality. Autostraddle gives a really good critique of the show’s shortcomings while at the same time giving some background and advice for ways to grow.
And then there’s Mikey herself. I have not had the chance to meet her, as the interview below was via email, but there are two very distinct impressions as far as I can. First is the egotistical shade-wearing alpha-bitch as presented by one unhappy E-Room attendee on Mikey’s Official Fan Page that has since been deleted. And then there’s the gregarious and down-to-earth woman that comes across in this ShewWired interview from early in the season.

  Melissa Etheridge
Has it really been so long that the iconic lesbian folk-rocker Melissa Etheridge is already relegated to the casino circuit along with oldies station hits? Does that happen in less than two decades? Apparently the answer is yes, as Etheridge takes stage at Spirit Mountain Casino (27100 SW Salmon River Highway, in Grande Rhonde) tomorrow Tuesday the 24th.
But that doesn’t mean she isn’t still rockin’. This show may be out of town but it is sold out. Despite a recent divorce and battle with cancer the butch blonde heartthrob has had a Broadway debut, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and her new album Fearless Love is getting damn decent reviews.

Lady Gaga Concert: A supernova of faggitude
To say Lady Gaga rocked Portland is an understatement.
She exploded into a supernova of faggitude. Her pro-gay, pro-freak, pro-throw-your-tampon-at-high-school-bullies shook the very foundations that upholds Portland as the “keep-it-weird” center of the world.

Playing to over 20,000 adoring fans at the Rose Garden, Lady Gaga shot her Monster Ball tour like hot liquid into the laps of all the weirdoes and lovers last night. Her high-octane, multi-media, electronic heavy performance charmed the audience at every set movement and dance move. Averaging a costume-change about every three songs, there was an endless supply of spectacle and wonderment. We encourage you to tell us about your experience in the comments below, and if you have pictures you want posted send them my way! (alley@qpdx.com)
Here’s what they said.

Tonight
sPLURt! episode 2 – I’m starting this weekend off tonight because how could I not highlight a bukakke-themed 90?s rave revival party? Really, I kinda think the 90s are back with a vengeance and I did always have a hard time letting go of the Peace, Love, Unity, Respect mantra. Plus with a photo like theirs and a promise to go home covered in something it’s likely we’ll all be pre-squirtin’ before the real weekend even begins.
