Just a quick update for those of you attending the SOLD OUT Blow Pony Cruise Saturday night from 8-10pm. But even if you can’t make it out to sea, all you land-lubbers can still blow it up at the Pony’s usual digs at the Eagle Underground (610 NW Couch) starting at 8pm also.
Boat leaves promptly at 8pm (and just in case I’d make that the real 8pm and […]
Today’s Just Out has a a mini-feature for Saturday’s In Other Words fundraiser Verb written by yours truly. Might as well move your feet for a good cause no?
There are a plethora of popular Portland Pride parties happening Saturday June 13, the night before the big parade. But only one hosted by and benefiting a women’s and feminist bookstore would appreciate such overuse of alliteration.

The largest lezzie party of the year gets a writeup in Just Out:
Being more a fan of the intimate, cramped party than big blowouts, I almost didn’t attend the inaugural Out Like That Productions Pride celebration last year. That would have been a mistake. And though I’m disappointed the sophomore bash won’t be in the balmy confines of the Jupiter Hotel courtyard, the Mt. Tabor Theater’s antique charms are sure to win me over when Get Out! Pride 2009 happens Saturday, June 13.

RuPaul Drag Race winner Bebe, will make a special guest appearance at the Portland Edition finale
Take a deep breath my friends, because Pride weekend is here…You might want to take this evening to relax and prepare. I’m sure I’m gonna wreck the closet tonight. Because the fun starts tomorrow and it just ain’t gonna stop for days. And each day qPDX will preview the night’s happenings, making sure to highlight our picks. So get your Red Bull and vodka together and try not to spill on that party dress, because it’s gonna be a doozy.

BearTown 2007. Photo by Steve L.
Your Pride schedule is already filling up, I know. But for the furries and and belly-lovers among us you really don’t want to miss this weekend’s BearTown 14: Carnival of Bears put on by the Oregon Bears.
Indeed this celebration, amazingly in its 14th year, has much to much to completely profile but luckily the bears have cooked up some great highlights. (Oh yeah, and to hint yet again at the new qPDXer, and man about town, who will be covering several of these events as well…Is anticipation building yet?)

This fabulous fur coat, modeled here by DRun, came courtesy the impeccably dressed Shannon H. It was gleefully passed around
When I see cupcakes and donuts at a size-positive event the stereotype occasionally makes me cringe. But then at about midnight I get the munchies and am super stoked that I don’t have to make my ride stop at a bad 24 hour fast food joint to satisfy my drunken cravings. Indeed, this measure of skepticism, relief and fun were a good characturization of the first ‘Bounce.’

A couple of really great events almost snuck by our radar! But we queers can roll with the punches so whether part of the younger crew or the “grown-ups” we’ve got lots for you to do tonight.
SMYRC hosts its annual Queer and Trans Youth prom tonight, Circus Smyrcus, at the (for now) SMYRC headquarters (2100 SE Belmont). The alcohol and tobacco free event for the Q set between the ages of 14 and 23, takes place tonight from 8 to midnight and will feature the music stylings of DJ Tara, free food and raffle prizes. And unlike your typical suburban high school you don’t need to buy overpriced, couple-centric tickets cuz this party is free.
