It was a wild success that saw the gorgeous Miss Sabel Scities win Portland’s Drag Race, 115 floats, thousands of attendees, very few protesters and about a million parties. Last night saw a plethora of queer nights going on, as I’m sure you already knew. I’m sad I didn’t make it to Dirty Queer – I heard it was a great (and hot) evening of X Rated Open Mic debauchery.I also missed the Trans* Family Picnic. Oh well. You can’t be everywhere! But I seriously needed to take a breather and snuggle with my teddy bear (and blog and work and finish the QPDX.com banner and …) so I decided to skip DQ and attend my friend’s graduation-from-PCC-aftershindig at The Maiden, which serves some killer food, strong drinks and slightly annoying flamenco music. A few news sources across the web are reporting that Chastity Bono, long known to friends and family as ‘Chaz’ has decided to start tranisitioning from female to male. Go Chaz! Just in: Keller Henry, a Portland resident and TriMet user, took a quick snapshot of a sticker found on TriMet. My thoughts are all in a jumble about this, but I will try and make sense of it the best I can. I am a white, queer European who has been an anti-facist and anti-racist activist since I was a teen. It has come to QPDX.com’s attention that a mysterious character known only as SuperGay has been spotted flying around town (and in the bean aisle at Fred Meyer) sporting a rainbow cape and a spandextastic outfit, and campaigning for the rights of queer people everywhere. I caught up with SuperGay on a local rooftop, where zhe was polishing their silver mirrored goggles with their rainbow cape, but before I could ask SuperGay how we can contact them, they just said “Same gay time, same gay channel” (I assume that means logo, but i don’t have cable) and flew off into the sunset with a barbie doll, a GI Joe, and a My Little Pony Unicorn clutched tightly to their chest.
