Gay celebrity blogger allegedly assaulted, “hilarity” ensues

Perez Hilton is a famous gay blogger

Perez Hilton is a famous gay blogger

So allegedly, gay celeb blogger/gossip queen Perez Hilton was assaulted by the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am. Will.I.Am denies any allegations – and so they have taken it to the streets internet to resolve this dispute…and what follows is a messy frolic of tweeting/not tweeting, timing, and the importance of not forgetting the special T word, traffic.

Pride weekend violence – what’s going on, queer Portland?

Stop hate and violence in and towards our community

Stop hate and violence in and towards our community

Pride is over, our hangovers have subsided, the messes have mostly been cleaned up – but what remains is the foul aftertaste of violence, harassment and threats towards individuals in our community. This is new – what is going on, queer Portland?

Pride 2009 in review

sam-adams-pride-09

Sam Adams' bike contingent at Pride 2009

Now that we are all finally recovered from our hangovers it’s time to reflect on the weekend. It was a wild success that saw the gorgeous Miss Sabel Scities win Portland’s Drag Race, 115 floats, thousands of attendees, very few protesters and about a million parties.

Below are my weekend highlights but we really want to hear yours, so comment below!

Friday – A night in recap

Holocene

As these things go, I’m going to try and deal with my hangover headache in new and inventive ways – recapping it!

Last night saw a plethora of queer nights going on, as I’m sure you already knew. I’m sad I didn’t make it to Dirty Queer – I heard it was a great (and hot) evening of X Rated Open Mic debauchery.I also missed the Trans* Family Picnic. Oh well. You can’t be everywhere! But I seriously needed to take a breather and snuggle with my teddy bear (and blog and work and finish the QPDX.com banner and …) so I decided to skip DQ and attend my friend’s graduation-from-PCC-aftershindig at The Maiden, which serves some killer food, strong drinks and slightly annoying flamenco music. And there were plenty of queers there! Congratulations Marissa and Amber, job well done!

Just in! A few news sources across the web are reporting that Chastity Bono, long known to friends and family as ‘Chaz’ has decided to start tranisitioning from female to male. Go Chaz! I applaud Chaz’ decision to be honest and to transition – especially in the public eye. (And Cher’s their MOTHER, for crying out loud).

Once a headline sensation, Thomas Beatie, the “pregnant man” just had his second child yesterday, and the headlines are nearly buried amidst Pride fervor.

Adam Lambert on the cover of Rolling Stone

And yes, he answers that question that everybody already knew the answer to. He’s gay! Gay just like Clay, other other runner up that’s more famous than the winner. But Adam is much bolder, hotter, and glamtastic. And Rolling Stone knows it.

Breaking News: Racist, Biphobic, inflammatory stickers found on TriMet

Racist, biphobic, inflammatory sticker found on TriMet

Racist, biphobic, inflammatory stickers found on TriMet. Thank you to Keller Henry for this photo.

Just in: Keller Henry, a Portland resident and TriMet user, took a quick snapshot of a sticker found on TriMet.

My thoughts are all in a jumble about this, but I will try and make sense of it the best I can. I am a white, queer European who has been an anti-facist and anti-racist activist since I was a teen. And I love Portland. I love this city. I care about this city, and I care about the things I see on bus stops.

Who is SuperGay?

Who is SuperGay?

SuperGay was spotted in Portland, OR - who is this queer superhero?

It has come to QPDX.com’s attention that a mysterious character known only as SuperGay has been spotted flying around town (and in the bean aisle at Fred Meyer) sporting a rainbow cape and a spandextastic outfit, and campaigning for the rights of queer people everywhere. I caught up with SuperGay on a local rooftop, where zhe was polishing their silver mirrored goggles with their rainbow cape, but before I could ask SuperGay how we can contact them, they just said “Same gay time, same gay channel” (I assume that means logo, but i don’t have cable) and flew off into the sunset with a barbie doll, a GI Joe, and a My Little Pony Unicorn clutched tightly to their chest. (the modern equivalent of riding off into the sunset, with the guy/girl i suppose)
