The new Red Cap Thursday staple goes for 13 weeks with 8 contestants who will be lead through a variety of creative challenges. One will be chosen the weekly winner, and awarded prizes donated by sponsors and community partners. At the end of the series, one contestant will come out on top to claim the grand prize which includes $1,000.00 cash and round trip airfare, lodging, and VIP party passes for 2. One of the favored contestants, Artemis Chase, is a much beloved local queen who almost made it onto the national show. But today even her race towards the local championship has ended as she has pulled out of the local competition. Continue reading »  Blow Pony has become one of the most popular queer nights in town Last night saw the first Blow Pony since the Pride weekend violence (of which Blow Pony was, sadly, the epicentre) and the muddle of police-ness that followed, so of course QPDX.com went down to Casey’s/The Eagle to check out what was going down. This Blow Pony went down without a hitch – but questions are being raised as to what can and will happen next, and despite the fact that on the surface, all is well, a lot of questions are being raised and right now, everything feels iffy. Michael Lloyd / The Oregonian We are a bit slow on the uptake, seeing as it was two days ago that Jasun Wurster, leader of the campaign to recall Mayor Sam Adams, officially filed his paperwork. In our defense is was mostly due to technical site issues that barred us from entering anything at all! Wurster and the rest of the Recall Sam Adams campaign have 90 days to collect 50,000 signatures. They have at least 17,800 so far. Continue reading » UPDATE: It seems like it really is true. The LA times now reports that Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors. BBC News is also reporting his death, along with MSNBC, and the Associated Press. CNN has so far not confirmed his death. Previously: It’s a rough day for 80’sd idols. We’ve just heard that after Farrah Fawcett died of a long standing battle with cancer, Michael Jackson has died of cardiac arrest, says TMZ.com. We rarely do fluff here at QPDX.com, although I won’t claim that we always do *serious* reporting either. We sometimes post things just for the eye candy factor of them – but oh so rarely for the girlqueers. We know that’s a complex issue – what’s considered “hot” in dyke circles isn’t always what the mainstream intarweb can provide. So enjoy this sizzling list! And the term “butch” is used to encompass a spectrum of masculinities-there are GQ, old-skool butches and Trans identified people there too. Some of my faves are posted underneath the cut…!
