 Unfortunately, I am out of town and will be missing most of these fabulous events. It also means that because of their sheer number I cannot preview all that I would like, but each are in the calendar and I want to give you a quick heads up on the ones you absolutely should not miss.

 Newest queer night on the scene, Confession, at Jinx (232 NW 12th Ave) will gather the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence tomorrow and every Wednesday to listen to all your sins. Billing itself as the hippest new joint, which seems appropriate for its Pearl location, 10% of all proceeds go back to the Sisters.

 Rai Villanueva in action Aerosol artist Rai Villanueva has been getting increasing attention these days with pieces blowing up all 5 of Portland’s “quadrants,” most recently as part of the 10 day Manor of Art festival. But this weekend the energetic newcomer will be taking over the E Room (3701 SE Division) at 8pm with Rose City RagBag, a celebration of her solo work. Featuring live painting, raffles and various forms of performance the night is much more than an opening.

 What else is there to say about reletive newcomer Gloss? It’s the best ladies lounge night around, some of the best drink specials in town, and ambience abounds. This week’s party will feature the Red Hot Soulful sounds of DJ Nolita of Fruitcake and DJ Shannon Wizbang of Olympia fame. Plenty of dark corners to get lost in and really feel the music, if you know what I mean.

 When I was a wee gay in the 90s I assumed every sizeable city had an all ages queer nightclub. Alas, as shady at the City Nightclub may have been I should have been more appreciative of its dark hallways and raucous drag shows.
Indeed an incarnation of this club still exists today. It has moved to a much cheerier and open (with windows!) location on SW Park Avenue and changed its name (after a series of missteps) to The Escape.
