 Lesbian Art Show No, that’s actually what it’s called…And these dykey works premiere not at the lesbian haven of Last Thursday, but the rather posher, older, art sibling First Thursday when the “Lesbian Art Show” opens at Fontanelle Gallery (205 SW Pine Street) at 6pm. Local lezzie artists Mary McAllister and Azsa West, better known for their dyke party DJing, present mixed media collage, drawings, sculpture, and installation inspired by the Dada movement of the 1920s. Continue reading »  Fischerspooner's new album 'Entertainment' Originally a duo formed by classically trained musician Warren Fischer and video-artist and experimental theater performer Casey Spooner for an impromptu rendition of their makeshift track “Indian Cab Driver” at the Astor Place Starbucks, the group grew to over 20 performers, most of whom are dancers and guest vocalists. A PDX dance showcase. I had no idea what to expect (except dancing) but this being a PantsOff production, I knew it had to be good.  Untrained, I Dance Company And I was not disappointed. Kick / Ball / Change is not a queer event per se, but it’s anti-authoritarian, DIY, gender-blurring, pop culture-referring, ruckus attitude has all the appeal of Portland’s best queer events – it’s clear that organizers Jodi Bon Jodi and Max Voltage’s many years of organizing and performing queer events are indelible from both their passion and their art. gue whispery words telling me to call him if I feel like it. It feels like this isn’t even about the car anymore. He’s not even that into my car. My car that looks to me like a Birkenstock and Carhart wearing dykemobile. The sort of thing that one would pack with smelly lesbos and drive to clothing-optional hot springs and women’s music festivals. It is decorated with bumperstickers that say “keep Portland weird” “No on 8” and “well-behaved women rarely make history” for goshsakes. I might as well have a bumpersticker that says “smash patriarchy with me and my hella hella gay friends.”
