A weekend to get hot and stay Hott for the weekend before V Day

Lady Serendipity Jones will be at Bent Friday

Friday

Dirty QueerDQ has been serving up the sexiness in spoken word form for over 5 years now. No better place to get riled up for your Friday night.

Bent I love it when a favorite club night brings it for no other reason than to have a good time in dreary February. This week we’ve got DJs in town from LA and Seattle and some damn sexy queer drag from Serendipity Jones. And you’ve also got the legendary Eric Sellers in the photobooth.

Have a Heart On: Sexxxy dance partyA new dance party so sexy it needs three Xs in the title. A queer bar with an open flavor one half of this DJ duo was just profiled this week. Expect something just as queer as parties farther north with the drink specials of inner SE. It’s going to be a little different and a lot of fun.

Lucky ‘Buckhunters,’ Gaycation with Katastrophe, Her HRC and ‘dancing on your own’ with Gula Delgatto this weekend

Katastrophe performs Saturday with Athens Boys choir at Gaycation

Whew! So one small weekend of only a few events and we’re back to the melee of 20 million dueling events. Here’s what you got to choose from.

Thursday

Triskaidekaphilia (Just My Luck)Former Just Out arts writer Jimmy Radosta hasn’t had the best of luck. But his loss is our comedic gain with his one man show that highlights his growing up in Salem and other gay misfortunes. Billed as  blending the dry wit of David Sedaris with the political humor of Jon Stewart and the cheeky musical stylings of “Weird Al” Yankovic, this love of 13 is surely a good luck charm for the rest of us.

Radical Act at the Reel Music FestivalRadical Act may have been made in 1995 but women in rock still have a glass ceiling. The film screened at Outfest in Los Angeles and appeared in 1999 as part of Miranda July’s “Break My Chainletter” collection, and now it’s being revived at the Reel Music Festival.

Kaia’s Ping-Pong Pandemonium will feature star-studded teams (Donna Dresch, Carrie Brownstein, Explode into Colours and more) and local Portland DJs Permanent Wave (Jenny Hoyston) and Dan Moe. The winner will face Kaia in the final round. Bone up on your Ping-Pong knowlege here, and read the history of Kaia’s shot at Gay Games glory here. There will also be an exhibition match by pro table tennis players. More info 21+/$5-? sliding scale. 8pm. Point.

A weekend of Dirty Queers, Trans Revolution and Homomentum

Trans Revolution dance party returns to Crush tomorrow

Just because you are trying to stick to your New Year’s resolution of not drinking, or at least drinking less, doesn’t mean your social calendar should suffer. We may be experiencing the post-holiday doldrums of grey and rainy January but there is still plenty of queer excitement left in the humid air.

This weekend sees at least 3 big events, the 3rd anniversary of the popular smut fest Dirty Queer, the return of the genderiffic Trans Revolution dance party and the continuation of the popular Homomentum performance cabaret.

Friday – A night in recap

Holocene

As these things go, I’m going to try and deal with my hangover headache in new and inventive ways – recapping it!

Last night saw a plethora of queer nights going on, as I’m sure you already knew. I’m sad I didn’t make it to Dirty Queer – I heard it was a great (and hot) evening of X Rated Open Mic debauchery.I also missed the Trans* Family Picnic. Oh well. You can’t be everywhere! But I seriously needed to take a breather and snuggle with my teddy bear (and blog and work and finish the QPDX.com banner and …) so I decided to skip DQ and attend my friend’s graduation-from-PCC-aftershindig at The Maiden, which serves some killer food, strong drinks and slightly annoying flamenco music. And there were plenty of queers there! Congratulations Marissa and Amber, job well done!
