Feel like you missed out on Sunday’s parade? Here’s the entire thing in 3-year old attention span format…that is, 10x fast. It still takes almost 15 minutes… (Courtesy David Mcfatridge) So many great shots from Anna M Campbell Photography. There’s a goodly smattering below but you might just want to open the full Flickr slideshow to see all 364 amazing pictures of the Portland Pride Parade. [slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157627010972024/” items=”60″ type=”galleria”] It was a weekend of rainbows and debauchery as usual this Portland Pride 2011. qPDX had fun at events at Mississippi Studios, Holocene, Crush, Rotture, Saratoga and outdoors in weather that jumped from sunny to misty rain in true Portland fashion. Photos from Sunday’s parade and waterfront celebration are forthcoming from special professional photography guest Anna Campbell and a video from yet another special contributor, filmmaker Cathleen Arnerich, but in the meantime here’s a recap of my time at Pride and some links to photo galleries already uploaded. Feel free to post your Pride 2011 memories in the comment section below! Blow Pony featuring Leslie Hall, CJ and the Dolls, Feyonce and others was fun. It was really fun, just as we all knew it would be. But the surprise hit of the weekend was Thursday’s Queerlandia that played to our vanity with both a photoboth and Fliptography, had an amazing lineup of performances and a huge lovely patio with cute undies for sale and plenty of room to chill. Plus DJ Lunch Lady pounded the jams on the Bar Bar side all night long. What a trooper! Continue reading » Pride weekend may be winding down but that just means it’s time for more pictures! You might have to wait a bit for the actual Pride Parade photos but it’ll be worth it ebcause they’re being handled by a real professional photographer instead of me. Yay! But here’s shots from last night’s Dyke March, which was actually pretty well attended, despite the rain and the eternal question…what time is […] Gaycation rocked Holocene last night as part of Portland Pride 2011 and we’ve got the pics to prove it. There’s also a couple snaps of Eric Sellers’ Party of Pride, but, you know, it was late by then I was just getting drunker. The camera work suffered… [slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157626991611930/” items=”30″ type=”galleria”] The ladies were out in full force for Crave’s Pride kickoff party at Crush. [slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157626867014963/” items=”30″ type=”galleria”] A gathering of transfolk and allies filled Overlook Park yesterday with joyous grillin’ and chillin’. [slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157626866931829/” items=”30″ type=”galleria”] Oh my god, today is the day! So shake off that 3 day hangover and get your ass to the big Pride Parade…Make it Happen! And check out the earlier route and Waterfront Festival maps in case you’ve forgotten. Gay Standard Time is probably ok but the route is short so don’t miss it! And once you’re done with downtown it ain’t over yet, as there seem to be more Sunday afternoon and nighttime events than ever! Families of Color Day Out picnic – Sunday is a perfect day for winding down and slowly easing yourself out of Pride weekend. I’ve often gone to informal friend BBQs but people of color might want to consider the larger group gathering in North Portland’s Kenton Park. SO grab the hot dogs and the ribs and show your out of town guests what a NW picnic in the shadow of the big Paul Bunyan statue really means. 7th annual Pride Block Party – Today’s the day when Stark Street really is gay again as Red Cap/Boxes closes down the triangle to outsiders in favor of colorful tents that contain some of the best daytime dancing and performance I’ve seen. Hosted by San Francisco’s Trannyshack momma Heklina, the block party, open mere moments after the parade at 1pm, features performances by the Rose City Sirens, ChiChi and Chonga, and (can it be?) all the Miss Thing winners of 2010. Continue reading » Last night Queerlandia kicked off Portland Pride 2011 right with a packed house at Mississippi Studios. Outside on the patio there was Fliptography and vendors such as Underwear from reclaimed materials by Becca. Inside on the Bar Bar side was some series dancing while the Stud had a photobooth with Wayne Bund (and some super awesome popsicle dick props) and performaces by ChiChi and Chonga, Devan McGrath, Magic Mouth, […] Full schedule of Saturday events: https://archive.qpdx.com/events-this-week/2011-06-18/ Dyke March 2011 – Don’t get confused or show up late, this adventure of “how many exes does it take to screw in a lightbulb and organize a dyke march” may be ridiculous in its ever-changing lineup of organizers but its worth it to keep it going. We had grand ideas last year to take it over and make it as big and great as San Fran’s but my compatriot up and ran away to said city by the Bay. So instead I’ll just be another marching lezzie. But that’s quite a force in P-Town, even if we are running to catch up an hour late… Doll House Pride Edition – I may not usually be into chains but Hamburger Mary’s is a fun implementation of a great idea gay/drag laid back restaurant franchise. The atmosphere is friendly and they’ve given the prime Pride real estate of Saturday night over to the ladies. Continue reading » |
