  Size Queen clothing comes to the catwalk and to Fat Fancy, just in time for holiday shopping Thursday

Size Queen fashion show at Fat Fancy – Our favorite QPOC and locally owned plus size clothing store is having another one of their fabulous events. This time it is a fashion show featuring another local big girls and boys clothing shop, Size Queen, in honor of their lines coming to FF. These events often include a DJ and/or lovely nibbly things so it’s the perfect place to shop and schmooze with folks that are both fashionable and personable. And don’t forget to check out their new Indie Go Go video to raise money to open an online store. It’s both adorable and informative.
Growing Up Policed: Surveiling Racialized Sexualities – If you’re a grad who misses the academic speak from time to time this conference will quench your thirst in a queer way. The daylong conference uses a recent legal case that occurred in Portland, Oregon to highlight how young people marginalized through sexuality and race are targeted. It’s extremely relevant and a great place to start dialogue with other academics, activists and interested community.

 Kaj-Anne Pepper has been a performer, dancer, drag star and multi-modal artist in Portland for several years. We have come to expect great things and Pepper’s upcoming full length show, GenderFantasy, is highly anticipated.   Zackary Drucker on the cover of Amos Mac's premiere issue of Translady Fanzine This is something of an addendum to the Holigay Gift Guide. I occasionally get requests to review random products and, as one who loves to try new things, I usually give them a shot. Recently I received a line of mens skincare called Organic Male as well as some new and sweet holiday appropriate vodkas from Smirnoff. I’d also been putting off reviewing Amos Mac and Zackary Drucker’s Translady Fanzine from a couple months back. The procrastination was wholly my own schedule and not due to the amazingness that awaited me in the full color pictoral magazine premiere.
But I did want to eventually visit each of these things. So what’s a queer to do but take a weekend morning (or, let’s be real, midday) to draw a bath and take in all 3 pleasures. And just in time for you to consider buying them for yourself or others, holiday gifts or parties.

Untouchable Girls – This year America experiences the Kiwi invasion when dyke music and comedy sensations from New Zealand, the Topp Twins, finally showed us they exist. The duo had a television show that still hasn’t come to the states but they have finally begun touring here over the past couple years, including a visit to Portland a year and a half ago. But the big news is that their documentary Untouchable Girls is finally available on DVD in the US. You can read our review from QDoc 2010 here.

  The three minds of The Awesomazing Show episode 1: Melody Awesomazing, Anthony Hudson, Nana Awesomazing We’ve been excited for the premier of the new Awesomazing Show by Anthony Hudson and Melody Awesomazing since we covered their first teaser trailer back in August. The show, centered around Awesomazing’s obsession with Facebook is finally here. The pilot, “Tagging,” first screened at last weekend’s Shorty Shorts film festival but in case you missed that it is also available online right below.
“Tagging” also features guest star Nana Awesomazing. It’s the holiday season so we can all sympathize with the nosy family member trying to get up in our biz on Facebook.

  Peaches clearly wins the sex creativity contest but Cazwell's pretty hot too The reigning king and queen of dirty sexy pop, Cazwell and Peaches, have finally teamed up for a music video and you can hear both the hip hop and club vibes in “Unzip Me” directed by Bec Stupak, who worked as an editor and motion graphics artist on Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” vid.
“Unzip Me” will be featured on Cazwell’s upcoming album Hard To Be Fresh, due out next year. It’s been a long time coming and though I just saw him put on another excellent performance recently at Palm Springs Pride it’s definitely time for some new material…because thinking about ice cream trucks in the winter in Portland is just depressing. But this sexy track should lift your spirits, and maybe some other things as well, especially with a special cameo of Justin Bond noshing on a banana.
Of the collaboration Cazwell says, “It was an honor to work with the queen of electro. She’s someone I’ve admired and wanted to emulate because of her punk rock, no limits spirit.” Peaches adds that she “loved trashing the drum kit.”

Today’s profile of DJ Linoleum aka Andrea K comes a day early. It’s a holiday week so why not squish more into the front of it so we can enjoy our time off. And, while Linoleum plays at various events around town her only upcoming gig presently schedule it tomorrow night, Wednesday the 23rd at Aalto Lounge (3356 Southeast Belmont Street) as well as an appearance Superfresh Festival in February. (Plus, a new update first Thursdays at Tube Fast Weapons night starting Dec 1.
When and how did you get started DJing?
I think it was in early 2003. My roommate’s friend told me about this open turntable night that happened every week at Beulahland and was like, “You have lot’s of records! You have to do it!” So, we went down there and there was this great little community of people that simply loved to share music. Super fun and supportive. They showed me how the turntables and mixer worked and then I was hooked!
