She Bop co-owners and founders Jeneen Doumitt and Evy Cowan
The vodcast hasn’t forgotten about you! Queer Agenda is back this month with an episode dedicated entirely to newly opened women-centric sex toy shoppe She Bop (909 N Beech). Co-owner Evy Cowan leads us through some of the store’s most popular items including vibrators that thrum to your dance club beat (Blow Pony watch out), double dildos that engage the kegels, and beautifully blown glass pieces that are great for temperature play. And though perhaps less sexually useful, but just as entertaining, is the selection of vibes of yore. I do so love a history of sex.
We open up this month with a brand new Oregon AIDS/STD hotline commercial.

George Alan Rekers
In last night’s Alpha Dog of the Week political satirist Stephen Colbert profiled Family Research Council co-founder George Alan Rekers co-founder. In case you missed it Rekers, vehemently anti-gay leader of a group that tries to “cure” homosexuality, was caught in an airport after paying for a 10-day trip to Europe with a rentboy who was referred to as a “travel assistant.”
The Colbert […]
Oregon men have something to be proud of, according to Condomania, who just released a study ranking the state of Oregon second only to New Hampshire in penis size. They also ranked the top 20 cities in the USA and Portland takes a respectable 6th place, with the largest members found in Nola, DC, NYC, San Diego and Phoenix.
In business for 20 years, Condomania, gathered their data from the launch of TheyFit Condoms, the world’s first line of tailored-fit prophylactics, in 76 sizes. Since their debut in 2004 they have sold over 27,000 men in 70 countries, and now have just begun to analyze this cache of data.

DJ Permanent Wave loves to sit on the lap of Christmas elves
With a dirty name like that, how could you not want to don your mustache, chaps, and prepare for a club night ride? DJs Permanent Wave, Yer Momm and Lucas take over Rotture (315 SE 3rd) tomorrow night and turn it into a Menz Room. But contrary to the more elite boy parties the “men” […]
Trans porn star Buck Angel
When I first heard about Portland queer porn showings I was elated. Slated to be at the intimate and aptly named Rumpspanker’s what could be better than a horde of horny queers reveling in their sexy voyeurism together? But alas, the night was moved south to Crush (1400 SE Morrison) and refashioned with a hefty $10 entry fee.
And while it would be pretty fantastic to join in this Wednesday to watch The Buck Stops Here with the infamous Buck Angel himself in attendance, I really don’t think I can pony up that many bills for a movie I could rent with my sweetie in the seclusion of my own clean bedroom. That said, there will be raffle items from It’s My Pleasure and SheBop, not mention items from the Angel himself. Plus a steamy Q&A after the screening.

…with tales from the dark side of dating. It’s Not Me, It’s You takes place tonight at the Bagdad Theater (3702 SE Hawthorne) and celebrates all that is awkward, bad and downright shameful about dating. An antidote for the upcoming V-Day or a reason to be grateful for your perfect little love muffin, these storytellers have some real tales to spin. And they are all devastastingly true. Even better, I make a brief appearance in one. Let’s see if you can guess which…
We’ve all had them: dates that go terribly awry. An evening of personal stories told live onstage, unscripted, just telling you the painful truth. You’ll leave either feeling grateful for your current relationship or with the realization that being single isn’t so bad after all.

Brent Pruitt in front of one of his tamer works of art. Be prepared for more genitalia in the upcoming show
I love contemporary art. I love it even more when it is unafraid to poke fun at itself. Any medium worth studying is also worth mocking. In the spirit of self-love and expression while still not taking yourself too seriously is local artist Brent Pruitt‘s First Friday opening Felt Up: Queer Erotic Tomfoolery at Studio 2507 (2507 SE Clinton Street). Appearing for the month of Februrary the show opens this Friday with a reception from 6 to 9pm during the southeast’s hipper First Thursday equivalent.

Trans Revolution dance party returns to Crush tomorrow
Just because you are trying to stick to your New Year’s resolution of not drinking, or at least drinking less, doesn’t mean your social calendar should suffer. We may be experiencing the post-holiday doldrums of grey and rainy January but there is still plenty of queer excitement left in the humid air.
This weekend sees at least 3 big events, the 3rd anniversary of the popular smut fest Dirty Queer, the return of the genderiffic Trans Revolution dance party and the continuation of the popular Homomentum performance cabaret.

Co-owners Jeneen Doumitt and Evy Cowan
Even in a bad economy people usually continue to drink and to have sex. Just as bars as full as they ever were, so too can a burgeoning sex toy shop thrive in the downturn.
At least that is the hope of Evy Cowan and Jeneen Doumitt, two long time friends, who just opened, She Bop, an adult boutique specializing in non-toxic body safe toys, books, DVDs and gifts for women. The bright and airy store, open 7 days a week from 11 to 7, set just off Mississippi Ave (909 N Beech) is a friendly and close in alternative to the fantastic, but out of the way It’s My Pleasure.
