 Blow Pony has become one of the most popular queer nights in town Last night saw the first Blow Pony since the Pride weekend violence (of which Blow Pony was, sadly, the epicentre) and the muddle of police-ness that followed, so of course QPDX.com went down to Casey’s/The Eagle to check out what was going down. This Blow Pony went down without a hitch – but questions are being raised as to what can and will happen next, and despite the fact that on the surface, all is well, a lot of questions are being raised and right now, everything feels iffy. All I can say is that organizer Carlee Smith puts on a damn good party, and the newly opened Invasion Atomic Lounge (412 SW 4th) is the perfect swanky spot in which to host it. Opening night was the perfect melding of delicious drinks and alcohol soaked nibbly things, wandering chit chat, and aurally satisfying relaxation. And even though I love to dance, the space to simple sit and chill was a nice change of pace from the usual cramped hot quarters of other bars. Luckily, you can sooth your aching ears with the much smoother sounds and surroudings at Portland’s newest ladies’s night, Gloss, at Portland’s newest queer bar, Invasion. Put on by Portland’s premiere Fatshionista Carlee Smith, of Fat Fancy, Gloss is a night more for schmoozing and socializing than dancing.
