Darcelle will Grand Marshall this year's Portland Pride Parade
Pride season is quickly marching upon us and Pride NW has just announced its 2010 honorees. Grand Marshall this year is the fabulous heart of the Portland drag scene, 78-year-old Darcelle, a performer and fixture for over 35 years.
Just Out staffer and former qPDX contributor Erin Rook does a great job of announcing the 3 places of honor, Grand Marshall, Spirit of Pride Award, and newly implemented Pride in Action Award, so I’m going to let her take it from here:

PORTLAND QUEERS! I would like to invite you and all of your friends to the first of potentially many installments of a women-centric DJ night called LUNA LUNES. As the name suggests, the party will fall on Monday nights, the first just so happens to be tonight at Sloans Tavern (36 N Russell St. at Williams)
The evening will start early, before 9, giving y’all a chance to make sure […]
The Mad Hatter makes an appearance at CC Slaughter's Superstar Divas
Photographer Mike Burt was on the scene again Saturday to catch the Cascade AIDS Project‘s 21st Annual Art Evening & Auction featuring dinner, oral and silent auctions of over 200 juried artworks. Check out the photo gallery of CAP’s event.
Mike was back out and about Sunday to catch photos from the 3rd anniversary of Superstar […]
Eminent Portland Drag Emcee Poison Waters. Photo by Mike Burt
Yours truly, along with contributing photographer Mike Burt were in attendance at Red Cap Garage for last night’s Portland Drag Race finale. The night went a little slow, as Portland performance is wont to do, but it left plenty of time for schmoozing and chatting and a great time was had by all. In case you missed […]
 Murray Hill hosted the event
Yep, that’s right. The first Mr. Transman contest took place in Brooklyn on Sunday, April 25th. If the video is any evidence, people had a great time! Murray Hill was emceed it, and Kastrophe was there! Original Plumbing also seems to have been involved.
I’m excited to see none of the silliness that goes along with regular “pageants” go along with it […]
Does Senator Lindsey Graham need to come out of the closet?
We just watched Outrage the other day, a documentary about outing gay politicians with anti-gay voting records. And on Jon Stewart he addresses a couple gay issues from the right and the left in his usual hilarious way. I think my favorite part is riding the immigration rainbow from Gaysylvania to the promised land of South Carolina.

 No Gay Bashing allowed, sorry
After a lot of text messages and trying to find information about a string of neo-nazi attacks that was rumoured to have happened this weekend, things seem to be calming down – after speaking with folks at Rotture and asking around, I got no confirmation on actual details. It seems like no other PDX news sources have confirmation, either.
So at the […]
Little Alley Hector circa 1996. This is from the original Chainsaw Chat page!
This week I made an appearance on Michael Scott‘s OURview on OUTview online radio program. We talk about Constance McMillen, Huckabee‘s Rant, a possible lesbian on the Supreme court and the new singledom of Melissa Etheridge.
But what I think is especially funny? While you listen to the audio the picture of me that you see scrolling past is actually from 1996. I was 15. Truthfully, I don’t look terribly different, but it was a shocker to see that picture again.

I have just heard from a friend that neo nazis or some other racist group may be targeting gay bars in the Portland area – apparently someone may have gotten jumped by some homophobic thugs at CC Slaughters.
It’s not our intention to spread rumours, but tonight is a big going out night with Blow Pony, so for safety’s sake:
1.) Keep an eye out when you arrive/leave the […]
  DJ Lifepartner
Today I find myself waiting for the elusive LIFEPARTNER, also known as Kirk Sutherland; A timid yet charming creature. Lifepartner wears thick rimmed glasses, fitted jeans, crisp new A.D.I.D.A.S’ windbreaker & canvas shoes, and sports a full beard. He loves playing dancehall, bounce and hip hop and anything new to the underground world music market. Today he shares his thoughts, opinions and some overall realness about inspiration, music and Oregon’s Queen City…
KIRK! HOW ARE YOU?
(Kirk dives into a bagel and hummus spread) Hungry
TELL ME, WHEN DID YOU MOVE OUT HERE?
About three years ago, it will be three years in the beginning of May.
AND WHY?
