Pride 2009 in review

Now that we are all finally recovered from our hangovers it’s time to reflect on the weekend. It was a wild success that saw the gorgeous Miss Sabel Scities win Portland’s Drag Race, 115 floats, thousands of attendees, very few protesters and about a million parties.

Pride weekend begins…Thursday parties

RuPaul Drag Race winner Bebe, will make a special guest appearance at the Portland Edition finale

Take a deep breath my friends, because Pride weekend is here…You might want to take this evening to relax and prepare. I’m sure I’m gonna wreck the closet tonight. Because the fun starts tomorrow and it just ain’t gonna stop for days. And each day qPDX will preview the night’s happenings, making sure to highlight our picks. So get your Red Bull and vodka together and try not to spill on that party dress, because it’s gonna be a doozy.

Video promo for this weekend’s Strut fashion show

Although they could have culled the 3 minute promo to a more svelte minute or minute-thirty the promo for this weekend’s Strut fashion show, a benefit for Basic Rights Oregon takign place at Luxe Autohaus (410 NE 17th) this Saturday May 16th at 7pm, is still worth watching.

And, according to Byron Beck, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Portland Edition contestants will be “competing” following the the catwalk fest:

Ru Paul’s Drag Race – Portland Edition!

Fabulous! Unbeknownst to me, RuPaul’s Drag Race is a pretty big deal—if you’re a Logo subscribin’ Drag Queen lovin’ homo that is- (i’m one of these things, and it doesn’t involve a TV) and I hadn’t even heard of it before. Nevertheless, I DID end up at the Red Cap Garage last Thursday until quite late to witness something I think I’ve never seen before-a Drag Pageant.

For those of you unfamiliar with RuPaul’s Drag Race, it’s a Reality TV show hosted by the legendary RuPaul herself—who is searching for the next drag superstar (Think Priscilla meets American Idol or even Top Chef and you’re almost there) Candidates are evaluated on their style, attitude, skills and overall fierceness.
