2010 RCSA Games: Come get some!

Swallows vs. Extreme

The Swallows swap high-5's with Extreme after dominating them with a final score of 10-0.

The competition is fierce this year as RCSA teams vie for the best standing. I caught several of the afternoon matches on Sunday and will be the first to admit how entertaining they are to watch.

Obvious sex appeal aside, there is something about gay softball that brings out the sports enthusiast […]

Queer Agenda video podcast episode #3 featuring She Bop sex toy store

She Bop co-owners and founders Jeneen Doumitt and Evy Cowan

The vodcast hasn’t forgotten about you! Queer Agenda is back this month with an episode dedicated entirely to newly opened women-centric sex toy shoppe She Bop (909 N Beech). Co-owner Evy Cowan leads us through some of the store’s most popular items including vibrators that thrum to your dance club beat (Blow Pony watch out), double dildos that engage the kegels, and beautifully blown glass pieces that are great for temperature play. And though perhaps less sexually useful, but just as entertaining, is the selection of vibes of yore. I do so love a history of sex.

We open up this month with a brand new Oregon AIDS/STD hotline commercial.

Pioneer Square Drag Out

Bolivia, Nefertiti, and co. pose for an eager passer-by.

I happen to be around Pioneer Square an hour ago to see Bolivia and others dragging it up; they were waving, posing for and with on-lookers, as well as answering questions.

You can catch the spectacle every other Wednesday (starting at 7:00 or you can ride the MAX with them from C.C. Slaughters at 6:30) now through summer […]

Art Explosion for Karol Collymore, County Commissioner candidate

Vote Karol Collymore for County Commissioner

County Commissioner candidate Karol Collymore may not be gay, but she gets an honorary badge…so says fellow queer journalists and shakers Stephen Marc Beaudoin, Byron Beck, Caryn Brooks, Jim Radosta, Bryan Boyd and others. She’s received the endorsements of The Oregonian, Willamette Week, NARAL, and several elected officials. Her policy and personality make it a no-brainer for qPDX to add itself to this list of supporters.

Running in District 2, encompassing North and Northeast Collymore has a solid record of LGBT support and community activism including work with Basic Rights Oregon, Hands on Greater Portland, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon and a year-long experiment hosting progressive dinner parties for small non-profits like Schoolhouse Supplies and P:ear. She was also a longtime staffer for Jeff Cogen, current commish and in the running for Multnomah County Chairman.

Darcelle to be 2010 Pride Grand Marshall

Darcelle will Grand Marshall this year's Portland Pride Parade

Pride season is quickly marching upon us and Pride NW has just announced its 2010 honorees. Grand Marshall this year is the fabulous heart of the Portland drag scene, 78-year-old Darcelle, a performer and fixture for over 35 years.

Just Out staffer and former qPDX contributor Erin Rook does a great job of announcing the 3 places of honor, Grand Marshall, Spirit of Pride Award, and newly implemented Pride in Action Award, so I’m going to let her take it from here:

NYC holds first Mr. Transman contest

Murray Hill hosted the event

Murray Hill hosted the event

Yep, that’s right. The first Mr. Transman contest took place in Brooklyn on Sunday, April 25th. If the video is any evidence, people had a great time! Murray Hill was emceed it, and Kastrophe was there! Original Plumbing also seems to have been involved.

I’m excited to see none of the silliness that goes along with regular “pageants” go along with it […]

No confirmation on neo nazi attacks - everything quiet on Sat and Sun

No Gay Bashing allowed, sorry

No Gay Bashing allowed, sorry

After a lot of text messages and trying to find information about a string of neo-nazi attacks that was rumoured to have happened this weekend, things seem to be calming down – after speaking with folks at Rotture and asking around, I got no confirmation on actual details.  It seems like no other PDX news sources have confirmation, either.

So at the […]
