These first and most famous gay boy punk rockers exploded queercore culture into all kinds of indie crowds. They gave me hope for a unified punk underground movement.

DubleSnap! brings the gay 90s to Holocene

DoubleSnap!Two great Holocene nights have combined forces for one night only. This Saturday will see the emergence of DoubleSnap!, a delicious intermingling of the girl power party Doubledown with the funky fresh “I love the 90s” style of Snap!

Featuring an amalgamation of DJs from around the city and mostly culling from Hot Mess and the Portland Radio Authority talent pools, this thing promises to be a dance party staple for the ages.

Getting down at Portsmouth Pizza

We're dealing with a family dining establishment here...it's gonna take some timeIt’s on a Wednesday and it is way the hell out there. These aspects of a new queer dance night that popped up in North Portland lead me to think it might not rise to the ranks of a truly popular queer destination. But then again, 4 or 5 years ago a little night called Booty opened up all the way up in what was then the middle of nowhere, in a tiny bar called Porky’s and it became a night of queer Portland legend.

Start the party with Crave’s green monster Absinthe themed party. Will Crush (1400 SE Morrison) actually be serving absinthe? I have my doubts. It’s unfortunate because the opiet laced drink was recently legalized in our country to less fanfair than I expected. Luckily I got a lovely Van Gogh style gift package for Christmas from my mother. So pre-party at my house?
