Check out the amazing stack of queer performers lined up for Gender Bender @ The E-Room!

This Thursday the yearly spectacle of the Gender Bender Variety Show will be coming to the E-Room! It looks like a spectacle not to be missed. The E Room is usually pretty insular, by this time they have cast a wide net to get  some of the best most innovative queer performers that run the gamut from traditional drag to post-queer performance art to the E Room! It’s going to be hot, queer, and amazing, and for a good cause!

Get your Rose City Sirens blaring with ‘Air Raid’

rcr-air-raidFemme burlesque superstars the Rose City Sirens are ready to make a grand re-entrance Thursday night at the Egyptian Room (3701 SE Division St) with a brand new show aptly named “Air Raid.” Sure to be loud and raucous, the stage will also be graced by loveable drag kings the River City Riders. And when the groups collide? Well, just make sure you’re braced (under your desk perhaps?) for the invasion.

Burlesquire’s first full-length show in review

The men of Burlesquire are very cute. They are also very talented. The opening number of their first full-length performance, Mannequin, was a 5 piece bit of choreography that was very much Backstreet Boys meets La la Cage aux Folles. That, along with a very typical comedienne drag queen emcee, Miss Genesis Wild, created a first impression that teetered on the edge of trite. Luckily the show did not linger there long.

Beautiful boy burlesque troupe Burlesquire has been heating up stages around Portland for some time now, but they are finally busting out with their first solo and full-length show tomorrow, Saturday the 4th and Hawthorne Theater (1507 SE 39th Ave).

And, as you will come to see tomorrow, when this Burlesquire piece runs in the arts and culture section, I have begun to do some writing for local gay rag, Just Out.
