Watch the Battlestar Galactica ‘Portlandia’ episode now

You may not be able to watch season 2 of Portlandia on the boob tube until tomorrow night, but you can skip ahead and catch episode 2 right now online. Hulu is only offering it one more day but it may stay up on the IFC website a bit longer. So I’ve included that version below.

And I’m not exactly sure why they episode 2 was chosen instead of episode 1, except that perhaps they are hoping that Battlestar fans will become as obsessive about them as they are about Ron Moore. It’s not a bad bet. I’m certainly excited to watch this episode, which also guest stars Jeff Goldblum and Eddie Vedder.

Best gay television of 2010

The gays struggled with the boob tube this year in part because there actually are a fair amount of decent characters and story lines to choose from. So we are on that cusp of counting down the best gay shows vs. the best gay moments.

It’s also a year where we start to shift judging from “a good portrayal of LGBT life” to simply the “best TV” that just happens to contain gay elements, or are even primarily gay themed. This list has a combination.

A couple of gay TV moments from the weekend

'Caprica'

As gayness becomes increasingly familiar in our lives, so it is reflected on the small screen. And despite that the American TV-watching population was most likely watching one of the straightest (well, if you don’t account for subtext) television events yesterday, there were most definitely some queer weekend highlights.

Firstly, let me indulge my obsession with science fiction. Though not nearly as epic as the recent SyFy hit Battlestar Galactica, new series Caprica is pretty interesting. This week they very nonchalantly introduced a gay couple as part of the tough-as-nails and mob-like Adama family. Ain’t no Tauron sissies in this touching family scene.
