This Sunday saw the final installment of the queer dance extravaganza, Kick/Ball/Change. The performance, which included regulars such as Untrained, I, Catitude, and Beefcake Burlesque, also featured newcomers Under the Radar and a sexy solo by Carlee Smith. And though there were moments of hilarity and fabulousness, the performance was also tinged with sadness. And now we must be in mourning.
A refreshing tribute to the late Michael Jackson by newcomers Under the Radar was a particular highlight, but my favorite number was probably the so-silly-it’s-serious number by Beefcake Burlesque that featured silvery flag capes and the perfect tiny shiny tuxedo dickies.
Once again Catitude easily garnered laughs and applause aplenty, though it would be difficult to top the insane chicken headdresses from the last KBC. And Untrained, I appeared more subdued in this final performance.
All in all it was an appropriate goodbye to the event and the venue, and though we were unable to take pictures this time, I will direct you towards any video as it becomes available. We are sure to see all these folks at new venues very soon. And one may even feature to the footwork of yours truly in September…
