GLAAD announces annual media award nominees

Forget the Oscars. They snubbed us 2 years ago when we had a shot with Brokeback Mountain anyway right? Instead check out the nominees for the 19th Annual GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards, which were announced over the weekend.

The cute but oh so dirty puppets of Avenue Q

In this interesting mix of journalism and entertainment a few gems stand out to me, like my current obsession (and reason to be most upset about the writer’s strike) Dirty Sexy Money. You didn’t really think I was going to say L Word did you? And if I could peel my eyes, crusty with winter flu eye boogers, away from the boob tube for a minute I’d also remember favorites like comic series Strangers in Paradise, or bizarre adult Sesame Street takeoff puppet musical Avenue Q (I actually saw this in Vegas, not LA, but I’m sure I got the gist), among many other TV specials, alterna-weekly articles, and nominees of all things media. (Interestingly enough, Queen of All Media, Perez Hilton, does not make an appearance).

And though I do not believe there is a live telecast, the awards come to various cities (although none in the NW) starting with NYC on March 17th. GLAAD’s sure to have video snippets after each event.
