The Board of Pride Northwest is pleased to announce its first-ever Pride Parade awardees.

In an effort to promote community spirit the Board of Pride Northwest for the first time offered cash awards in five different categories at its annual Portland Pride Parade. Our esteemed panel of judges was asked to review all parade entrants and designated the following participants to best represent their respective categories. And the winners are!:

Most Creative Implementation of Theme, “Make It Happen,” $500: Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

Best Performance, Musical or Theatrical, $250: Portland Gay Mens Chorus

Best Costumes, $100: Red Dress Party

Highest Enthusiasm – the group that maintains the liveliest presence over the course of the parade route, $100: The Bus Project

Individual Standout – one person who simply bowls us over with their appearance or participation, $50: “Bat Girl” – we are seeking to find this person and any help identifying her would be appreciated.

Honorable Mention, Best Float: Asian Pacific Islander Pride

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s parade, and especially those who rose to the challenge of our new awards. We anticipate these awards will become a regular feature of the Parade every year. It’s just one more way that Pride Northwest is committed to “making it happen” for the LGBTQ community.
