PLGFF Wednesday previews

‘Sissyboy’

Tonight begins with the true life love story of a British writer and his American painter lover who was 30 years his junior. Chris and Don: A Love Story, interweaves interview with reenactment, archival footage, and animation of the characters they used to draw each other in correspondence to create a memoir as truly artistic and nuanced as the personalities and love affair of the two artists.

A 9 o’clock locals take over the screen with the homegrown Sissyboy movie along with its sibling What Ever Happened to Fannie Mae?

Journey with the gender-bending punk performance artists through their 3 year revolution of Portland’s drag scene. Bristly, crude and cocksure these tough sissies created drag performances that broke through the boundaries of traditional female impersonation while at the same time creating a family and community. This is an 80 minute peek inside the love, dysfunction and amazing successes that occurred throughout the process.

Following is a 50 minute short film by one of Sissyboy’s members, Devon McGrath. Whatever Happened to Fannie Mae? takes the already twisted tale of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? and takes it to a whole new level filled with local celebrities and prosthetics.
