Why do good things never wanna stay?
A mantra from my favorite Sleater-Kinney song reverberates as I contemplate the demise of yet another truly groundbreaking lady/queer/whatever PDX band. And Swan Island’s last show, a sad day to be sure, comes on what should be a celebratory video release party. Tomorrow night Holocene (1001 SE Morrison) hosts a double release of SI’s “Night Owl” and the Shaky Hands’ “Whales Sing” vids for the bargain basement price of free. Taking into account these two elements I’m guessing this show will reach that oh so strange form of capacity that only Holocene can muster. So I’d get there well before the 9p scheduled start time.
