Besides earning some dolla dolla bills you can also feel good about participating in a health study from All Gender Health Online.

Thanks for your interest in All Gender Health Online. Before participating in the study, please review the following information. You may participate in the study only if you agree to the terms outlined here and if you meet the participation eligibility criteria. You can only participate in this study once. Please note that we will use current technology to confirm the validity of your response and may terminate your participation in this study if we determine that you do not meet eligibility criteria or have participated more than once.

What is All Gender Health Online?

All Gender Health Online is a study exploring the sexual health of non-transgender men who have sex with transgender people.

Why should I participate in this study?

The results of this study will be used to develop an online intervention to prevent the spread of HIV and promote the sexual health of transgender people and their partners. From a previous study we know that transgender people who have sex with non-transgender men may be at a higher risk of HIV infection. Your answers will help us find out why and contribute to better HIV prevention in the future for both transgender people and their partners, such as yourself. Therefore, your time and willingness to answer these questions are invaluable and appreciated. Thank you.

How do I participate?

All Gender Health Online has two parts:

Part 1: An online survey with questions about your identity, sexuality, and health. It will take most participants between 40 and 60 minutes to complete the survey.

Part 2: Part 2 is an online, one-on-one, private interview about your experiences. It will take most participants between 60 and 90 minutes to complete this online interview. A number of participants (randomly selected), who complete the online survey, will be invited to participate in this part.

Will I be compensated?

Yes, participants who complete the entire online survey (part 1) will receive a $30 gift certificate. Participants who also complete the online interview (part 2) will receive an additional $50 gift certificate. Gift certificates are provided through GiftCertificates.com and can be redeemed at a wide variety of participating businesses (click here to learn more about GiftCertificates.com). You can only participate once and gift certificates will be limited to one per person per part of the study.

Who are the researchers conducting this study?

This study is being conducted by a team of researchers from the Program in Human Sexuality, Department of Family Medicine & Community Health, University of Minnesota Medical School (click here for more information about the researchers). An advisory board of community representatives from across the country has worked closely with the research team to make this study possible (click here for more information about the advisory board). Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future relations with the University of Minnesota or with any of the transgender community organizations represented on our advisory board.

What are the risks of being in the study?

It is possible that some of the questions in the survey or interview make you feel uncomfortable because they are personal, sensitive, or are about sex. You may decline to answer any question that you are uncomfortable with or discontinue participation at any time without consequences. However, only those who complete the survey will receive the gift certificate.

Will my privacy be protected?

Participation is confidential. The data gathered in this study will be encrypted, stored on a secure server, and password protected. When you complete the survey or the interview, any identifying information will be separated from the data and kept private; only the researchers and their staff (not the advisory board) will have access to this information. In any sort of report we might publish, we will not include any information that will make it possible to identify a participant. In addition to your responses to the study’s questions, we will collect non-identifying information about the time it took you to complete the survey and the IP address you used. This information will help us understand how we can create better online studies in the future.
