Thankfully Portlanders are much too cool to ever be starstruck. But if you do want to party with at least one third of local punk soul rockers The Gossip, head to Dunes (1905 NE MLK) tonight for the birth of new indie queer night Situations.
The dark and tiny club with no sign, tucked into an eerily empty-looking building on lower MLK seems the perfect spot for guitarist Brace Paine, known as DJ Nightschool, to bring his brand of ultra-hipster hangout lounge back to northeast.
Featuring a live band each of the erratic nights so far scheduled, opener Free Blood should make this already slightly intimidating bar all the scarier. But it’s time to face your fears my friends if you want to get your mid-week dance on with a tightly packed crew of queers.
