I have been neglectful, dear readers, and it shows. I know my posts have been a bit shorter and farther between lately, but you lose interest more quickly than I would have imagined my fickle friends. My readership has dropped about 20 or 30 people a day in the past few days. I beg for forgiveness.
It’s my own fault, I know. I didn’t clue you in the the competing club nights on Friday, which means you could be mad at me for missing the free vodka at Thin Pink Line. I didn’t even tell you that today would have been a great day to sneak out of work to head to Salem for the voting on both gay rights bills (SB2 & HB2007) in the Oregon House floor. (HB2007, the one governing Civil Unions, now re-coined Domestic Partnerships, has passed the House and now heads to the Senate. SB2, the non-discrimination bill is still in the works.) And so, while I may have, in the past, beat BRO to the punch when it comes to news, today they have me completely whipped by actually Liveblogging the House vote. I give it up to them, then, to cover all the intricacies and skirmishes taking place down the road and return to my self-pitying and snarky commentary on trivial gossip. Whatever I have to do to win you back…
Updated: Yeah, The Merc is blogging there as well. My shame is complete.
Update 2: So it looks like today is a complete victory! (Except for my pride maybe…) SB2 also passed with bipartisan support. I must not have been paying close enough attention to my School House Rock, however, because SB2 isn’t quite a law yet…The next step is to go back to the Senate for a concurrence vote on amendments to the religious exemption made in the House Rules Committee. Then onto friendly Gov Kulongoski who will surely pass it into law. This looks like it’s really gonna happen this time!
I will see what I can do to try and find them. If I do I’ll post.
