Can you be this tough for In Other Words?

Hump day in PDX is happenin’! So yeah, the actual cause for this Wednesday’s Ladies Arm Wrestling tourney is to raise funds for one of the country’s only remaining feminist bookstores, In Other Words, but it’s really a benefit for all of us that like to show of and/or swoon over some nice guns. The event is open for anyone who is woman-identified. Everyone is invited to watch. But I can’t decide whether I’m more excited to watch or perform. Story of our queer lives right?

Competitors are encouraged to issue “personal challenges” to one another. It’s a great way to get that beef taken care of before it erupts on Facebook right? Adoring fans can also place “bets” on their faves.

But if you’re competitive aspirations are a bit tamer, you can head, instead, up to Saratoga (Interstate and Dekum) for Gayme Night featuring board game classics and spring inspired party game shenanigans. Put on my enthusastic elementary teacher Amy Michet, Gayme Night has become an instant hit where the mellow can mingle without fear. Maybe you can even get a game of I Never or Spin the Bottle started if you’re really feeling the season.

Lastly, the cowboys and girls among us don’t want to miss the 10 gallon hats of fun provided at Buckshot‘s Queer Country night at the P Club (Lombard and Portsmouth). Chameleon-esque DJ Freddie Fagula will be holding the reins along with resident two-step king Jodi Bon Jodi. And, as always, it’s free, which is a good price for poor farm boys.
