The Rose City Sirens say farewell to the E Room Friday

This is the night you’re going to have to make some tough choices…and yet keep going for Saturday.

Echos an E Room Farewell with the Rose City SirensThis week has been a whirlwind of emotions surrounding the trials and tribulations of that little dyke bar in Southeast. But not matter what side of the debate you fall on it’s going to be a damn fine celebration of the history of our community. With the trio of irreverent, sexy and soulful Rose City Sirens at the helm how could it be anything other than deliciously bittersweet. I’d want my goodbye party to be thrown by these girls.

Parlor II beautification – If you a fly gal get your nails done, get a pedicure, get your hair did…in this second installment at In Other Words (8 NE Killingsworth).

Tag-a-Fag: Anything Goes edition – Glow in the dark sharpies and license to write whatever stupid drunken thing comes into your mind. And you’ll have the written evidence to prove it in the morning.

JunkTion! says summer’s not over – In the very center of inner NE the Local Lounge (3536 NE MLK) is quickly becoming a new neighborhood quasi-gay bar. Nopo’s good at this as evidenced by Vendetta, the Florida Room, and the Bye and Bye among others. But the JunKtion kids was to make sure you know that although they’re gay-friendly all week, and even have Glee showings on Tuesdays that this night is all gay, all good music, and all dance party. Drink specials abound and I’m hoping to get one more glass of sweet tea vodka and lemonade, aka liquid summer, down my throat before the sun disappears for the next 5 months.

Welcome to the GayborhoodThis inaugural night put on by the man behind Sluts and Squares (yeah, you remember that?) is back with a new name, DJ Skypimp and guest DJ Alicious of Crave to make sure there’s still parties up North and way out west at the Foggy Notion (3416 N Lombard). I’m excited to give this one a shot but scheduling on a night with the similar atmosphere of JunKtion, still only in its second installment, seems an unfortunate one. Are we really going to divide up our north and northeast brethren?

Saturday

ChiChi and CHonga perform Saturday at Blow Pony

Blow Pony vs. ChiChi and Chonga in the Donkey Show! The current king of the alternaqueer nightlife is usually so bangin’ busy I often forget about the amazing shows that get started upstairs sometime after 11. This month I’m not going to make that mistake. ChiChi and Chonga have been making debuts across the city and I have missed every one so far. Lamentable especially because I recently heard them described as the most inspiring act of the year. Plenty of wit but with as much musical talent as comedic the duo describe themselves as a drunk/feisty/chola and a free-spirited/hippie/stoner chick. They promise action-packed, fudge-packed, prison-sentencing, dead hooker discovering, girls-gone-wild of a time and I don’t doubt it for a minute.

CC Slaughters White Party 9Nearly a decade of celebrating the most inconvenient and ironic color (not) in the rainbow. Still, it is a simple and effective theme and it’s always fun seeing a sea of pale-clad hotties the the dirty dirty mess left on all the dress at the end of the night.

Foam Party at Red Cap – Wash away your sins around the corner. Those whiter and whites are definitely going to need some laundering.

Sunday

Pansy Soul Take a break from the sea of whiteness, be it clothing-related or otherwise to chill with DJ Michelle Machete while she pumps out some soulful slow jams and sexy R&B. A perfectly relaxing end to a hectic weekend.
