I cannot believe I haven’t found time in this oh so busy schedule to watch RuPaul’s Drag race yet. I guess I’ll have to catch up with Logo’s full episodes online (thanks MTV networks!). But I hear it is tre fabu and tonight is the season finale featuring one of my favorite dirty-as-fuck queer rappers (actually there are multiple) Cazwell.
Oddly enough I don’t see any viewing parties that have popped up around town on first glance so please use this post as a forum to let us all know about your special part-tay. (If you happen to be living in NYC you have a lot more options.)
PDXers do, however, have a chance to participate in our own version of the drag race with local drag diva Poison Waters beginning April 2nd at Red Cap Garage (1035 SW Stark St). We always prefer to do things our own way anyhow…
Red Cap Garage is pleased to announce the kick off of Portland’s own version of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Thursday, April 2 at their location in Downtown Portland, with an open casting call to contestant’s hoping to win the title of the Northwest’s fiercest Drag Diva. Eight finalists will be chosen by local celebrity judges to compete in the Absolut Mango Vodka sponsored 12 week competition that will loosely mirror the weekly show which airs on the Logo channel and has recently been picked up by VH-1. The contestants will appear each Thursday evening along with hostess Poison Waters who will lead them through a variety of creative challenge. One will be chosen the weekly winner, and awarded prizes donated by sponsors and community partners. At the end of the series, one contestant will come out on top to claim the grand prize which includes $1,000.00 cash, 2 VIP Tickets to the One Mighty Weekend during Gay Days at Disneyworld, round trip airfare and lodging, a $2000 value!
