Sam Adams’ exclusive interview with Out.com

Another picture perfect Sam Adams scowl

Ok so I (almost) lied.

Though I am admittedly tired of talking about Sam-Scandalgate, today brings more news of our fumbling gay Mayor Sam Adams. In his first extensive interview since the scandal broke, Adams tells Out.com, “why he continues to resist calls for his resignation, and apologizes to those in the gay community who feel let down.”

In a press release from Out.com the site goes on to say:

However, the mayor denied that his behavior reflected on the broader gay community, saying, “When a straight person screws up, I don’t think that paints a brush on all straight politicians. Americans are smart enough to know that we’re all unique, we’re all individuals. We all make mistakes. We all need to own up to them. We all need to make amends. That’s the path I’m on.”

The mayor, who faced calls for his resignation from, among others, Portland LGBT paper Just Out, said he was working on regaining the trust of those who feel let them down by his behavior. “I wrestled with resigning or staying,” he said. “My first priority was what’s best for the city. And my second priority was what am I up for, what do I have the energy for. In the end, I can offer at least six to nine months of relative stability by staying.”

I deeply desire to promise yet again to put this to rest, but surely the situation will continue to evolve. One direction it’s likely to go in is certainly that of parody and satire and at this point I’m all for that. One suggestion is a top 10 Adams scowls photo gallery. Other thoughts?
