PLGFF Monday night previews

Tonight’s films look to be a rather odd international mixture (like faux coffee in a tin). The 7p slot begins with a shorter feature, Australia’s The Kiss. Two women reunite 10 years after a traumatic event at the dusk of their high school careers. We don’t know what this “trauma” was and the flick just screams for a melodramatic “dun, dun dun.” It’s followed by what I assume is a short called Xmas Past which is bound to be a horror movie for Portland lesbians. Nobody wants their ex to come back from the dead and haunt your Christmas Eve date. Dating is rough enough for this town…

‘No regret’

Later in the evening you can head to South Korea where two strapping young things from different sides of the tracks work their cynical magic in No Regret. One is successful and obsessive, the other a poor orphan turned prostitute. Will love win out in the end? Well, The Merc says yes, but at the price of 2 hours of your life you will never get back. Curious they didn’t make this same claim about anything else…
