Gentlemen, you’ve been issued a challenge…
Men — kick up your (high) heels, support a great cause, and maybe even break a world record by participating in Portland’s hottest event of the summer…the World Record Drag Queen Chorus Line! Sunday, July 22nd, the World Record Drag Queen Chorus Line wants YOU to dress in drag to help raise money for the Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center (SMYRC) to encourage diversity and an atmosphere of acceptance for Portland’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. Come and strut your stuff at Pioneer Courthouse Square at 2 p.m. Men of any age, size, race, or sexual preference are encouraged to participate in the attempt to break the current Guinness World Record of “most number of drag queens dancing in a chorus line”. The record is 58 dancing queens, set by a men’s college organization in the U.K. But come on, Portland can do better than a bunch of British frat boys! The goal is to get at least 100 drag queens dancing and raise $25,000 for SMYRC. And with your help, that goal is within reach! All it takes is a $100 registration fee (entire amount donated to SMYRC), women’s attire (makeup, clothing, and wig), and a willingness to unleash your inner diva! “Looking great in fishnets is a plus,” says Darcelle XV, Portland’s reigning queen of drag, “But a fierce attitude is a MUST!” It doesn’t matter what you look like or what gender you’re into, as long as you’re ready to go all out for a great cause!
