I often find the “girl and her guitar” melancholy folk of many a singer/songwriter to be uninspiring, if occasionally pleasant. But Sia‘s new album, “Some People Have Real Problems” is quite infectious. She adds an sweet and strange intensity that is reminiscent of Tori Amos without the histrionics. And her ethereal voice blends with a myriad of instruments that have more than rock associations. And yet, despite its emotion Sia manages not to get bogged down in either depression or self-aggrandizing seriousness.
