In Portland this Friday at Switchyard Studios (109 SE Salmon), the Tranny Roadshow is on touring the west coast for the first time in 5 years. It will also be in Olympia tonight at Evergreen and tomorrow in Eugene at the University of Oregon.
A diverse collection of self-identified transpeople the roadshow includes poets, rappers, filmmakers, storytellers, breakdancers, rock bands, comedians, actors, folk singers, photographers, zinesters, and more. Our particular lineup consists of Jamez Terry, solidad decosta, Red Durkin, StormMiguel, Florez, Geppetta, Tash Shatz, Kimothy Shaughnessy, Shawna Virago, Nathen Wurzel.
Musician and author solidad decosta is described as an uppity Portuguese woman who isn’t afraid to claim her black Latina maternal ancestry. That seems enough to grab my attention. But I’m also excited about Red Durkin, one of the only out trans comedians, and StormMiguel Florez, a Mexican aMaricon singer/songwriter, QueErotic performance artist, and live tranny sex show producer. Local poet Tash Shatz will round out what is sure to be an eclectic and varied frenzy of tranny wonder.
