Sometimes it takes something going wrong for something to go right. Today a Multnomah County judge has ruled that the lesbian partner of a Portland mother is entitled to legal parental status after her name had been stricken from the birth certificate of her partner’s biological child.
Courtrooms are contentious and sometimes confusing places but as pessimistic as I can often be about legal matters, sometimes you have to let yourself feel a victory, however small.
