So, I know this is a little last minute, and I might expect readers of this blog to be more inclined to call Booty a night out than a lecture featuring a gay clergyman, but I do think it’s pretty cool that Portland can get to hear the thoughts of a gay bishop. From The Oregonian:
The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson, the openly gay bishop whose installation has brought the U.S. Episcopal Church into conflict with the global Anglican Communion, visits Portland on Wednesday to talk about being a Christian in the eye of the storm.
It’s brave to be an out public figure on any scale but it’s especially impressive in a religious context. And it wasn’t without peril. In fact, it’s shaking up the whole Episcopal Church. I don’t find myself applauding religion too terribly much of the time but this guy certainly gets props.
