The U.S. Open may be in New York, but here in PDX we have our own annual tennis tournament — the Rose City Open. The RCO has a few things going for it that the U.S Open does not — 1. It’s gay! An entity of Team Portland Tennis, an lgbt tennis organization here in town, to be specific. 2. It’s for a great cause! All proceeds from the tourney go to the Q Center, Cascade AIDS Project, and Portland After School Tennis & Education.
Registration for the tournament is closed, but spectating should be a great time as well. Matches will be going on starting at 8 am every day this long weekend (including Monday). All matches will be at the Portland Tennis Center, located at 324 NE 12th (between Glisan and Flanders).
