Sugar Town, the latest Queer soul dance night brought to you by DJ Action Slacks, is certainly the sweet spot to be this Thursday night. For its second installment, DJ Action Slacks has combined forces with Portland’s own soul superhero, DJ Beyonda, and San Francisco’s consistently sold out Hard French partystarters DJs Brown Amy and Carnita. These four fab and flaming DJs will be spinning vinyl hits and deep cuts from the 50s, 60s and 70s that will keep your toes twinkling on the dance floor.

DJ Action Slacks hails from the mighty Mid-West where she grew up on a healthy dose of Motown and Chicago soul. In 1994, she migrated to the Northwest and continued her formal education, focusing on the history of R&B and soul music and its connection to the Civil Rights Movement and the fight for social justice. With more than 15 years spent fighting in the trenches for soul, DJ Action Slacks is very pleased to see the recent resurgence in 1960s soul music, and after some inspirational DJ experiences with the Hard French crew, she has officially come out of retirement and is sharing her fervor for tunes that will make you groove with the queers of Portland.

For this month’s Sugar Town, the theme is “Ice Cream SOULcial,” and Saratoga is featuring ice cream flavored drinks to fit the occasion. Add to the mix delectable sweet treats from Sugar Daddy Baking and a candy-themed Photobooth by Dana Rae and this party promises to satisfy your sweet tooth.

SugarTown is tonight @ The Saratoga (6910 N Interstate Ave), 9pm
