Today from 6 until late pm the Oregon Rugby Sports Union (ORSU) women’s team will be holding an all you can eat, all you can drink spaghetti feed. There will be kegs and large vats of spaghetti as well as a silent auction.
The ORSU team have been slected to compete in the brand new USA Rugby Premiership. The Premiership is a league of the best teams in the country. It’ll cost the team more then $10,000 for travel, fees, referees, etc.
What’s so gay about women’s rugby? It’s like football without pads. There are scrums(pictured), which are tests of strength. We end most of our games by going to the Thirsty Lion and drinking Coors Light dressed up in according to that week’s theme. The themes vary from “GI Joes and their Hoes,” “Everything flannel,” and “Eurotrash” among many others. At the bar we have chugging contests. By my own estimates more than half of the women on the team are queer.*
$15 at the door, $10 if you buy your ticket through adina.lepp@gmail.com
It’ll go down at: 703 NE 64th Ave, Portland, OR 97213
*Full disclosure: I play for the ORSU women’s team. I’m a winger, often a right wing man. In short, I’m the last line of defense. I can’t eat/drink anything at the party as it occurs during Passover.
Thanks for publishing about this. There’s a mass of important tech information on the internet. You’ve got a lot of that info here on your website. I’m impressed – I try to keep a couple blogs pretty live, but it’s a struggle sometimes. You’ve done a great job with this one. How do you do it?
