If you’re still young and adventurous enough to want to brave the weather, the drunk drivers and the crowds on New Year’s Eve in search of just that right midnight kiss PDX does not disappoint (well, there’s lotsa party options anyway…).
Relative party night newcomer “Kiss This!” (“Out Like That”) is probably the front-runner for the ladies.
Sad to see the outdoor space at the Jupiter go but the cold and lack of space make the Mt Tabor (4811 SE Hawthorne) location a wise choice. DJs Mani, Lady Adie and Zita will be providing the tunes and there will be performances by fire-spinning Pegatron as well as other burlesque stars such as Sahara Dunes and Malice.
Kiss will have competition right down the road, however, from the lesbian standby the E-Room (3701 SE Division St). For less dough there are promises of yet more women, go-go dancers, and sounds from DJs Cheeto Fingers and No-No. Plus, they’re open until 4am and will feature champagne at midnight and a breakfast buffet at 2:30. Burlesque or buffet…you decide. (Oh yeah, and the last night to smoke. I got a butt and a champagne flute in one hand, a breakfast burrito in the other. Yum)
For the 36+ crowd and the ladies that love them the party has moved north to Shenanigan’s (909 N. Hayden Island Drive) for a Q Center benefitting Hot Flash Dance.
Picture a dance floor packed with sexy women groovin’ to the sound of Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5, Motown mixes, Cha Ka Khan and Blondie. You’ll also hear Janet Jackson, Madonna , Justin Timberlake, Usher and the newest from Beyonce-Welcome to Hot Flash.
Sounds like it could be a welcome break from the just-graduated 22 year old crowd but Shenanigans on Jantzen Beach? Really?
Lest you think I forgot the boys, CC Slaughters (219 NW Davis) presents its 28th Annual Platinum Ball with host Bolivia Carmichaels and music by DJ Alex Hollywood. More boy love is to be had at with the strippers and “nastiness” at Silverado’s (318 SW 3rd) “Miss Jackson” and at Boxxes/Red Cap’s (1035 SW Stark) “Glitter Bomb”. P.S. They’ve got some killer door prizes and a midnight toast as well as the cuties from Burlesquire.
Lastly, those who really want a fresh fetish are invited to Darklady’s Empire of Pleasure New Year’s Eve. This RSVP-required party is at the Village Ballroom (700 NE Dekum) and includes an all-you-can-eat Mediterranean buffet from Rumpspankers! At $65 for regular attire and $35 for fetish, dress or costume you better know what you’re getting yourself into.
