An Horse Graces Portland! (capsule review)

An Horse

Kate Cooper and Damon Cox of An Horse

The dynamic Australian duo, An Horse, made a stop on their fall tour at Bunk Bar (1028 SE Water Ave. Suit 130) last Saturday.  Kate Cooper and Damon Cox released their first album, Rearrange Beds after touring with Tegan and Sara in 2008. They made their first television appearance in 2009 on the David Letterman show, performing the song, “Camp Out”. Following the Letterman appearance,  Kate Cooper also did an interview for After Ellen (an online forum for lesbian and bisexual women).

The two members met as co-workers at an independent record store in Australia. Their most recent album, Wallswas released back in April of 2011.  The small, intimate setting of the bar created the perfect pallet for a great show! Kate Cooper’s lyrics are honest, raw and poetic. Damon Cox produces amazing sounds, and has perfect timing on the drums.  The energy the duo shares on stage is magical. They have a folk-rock sound that screams originality. Katie Cooper is an amazing queer artist that you should introduce all your friends to!
